Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

We know it’s been a challenging year for the Victorian tourism industry, with the recent bushfires and now the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. At Visit Victoria, we’re doing everything we can to support our friends across the tourism, events and hospitality sectors during this difficult time.

We’re working closely with government, healthy authorities, Regional Tourism Boards and industry to monitor the impacts of COVID-19 on Victoria and the tourism industry. These are uncertain times, but we are in this together.

We are encouraging everyone to join us in following the latest health advice issued by the state and federal authorities to help flatten the curve and help us recover as quickly as possible.

We know now is not the right time to travel but social distancing and self-isolation doesn’t stop us from dreaming.

Visit Victoria's Response

Right now Visit Victoria is in the early stages of the response phase and we’re working with government and industry on our immediate to longer-term recovery plans to support industry.

Visit Victoria is working in partnership with state and national industry bodies, health authorities and government sectors on a daily basis. The Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) have also been critical in managing high volumes of industry concerns and questions. For latest updates please visit vtic.com.au

We have both domestic and international marketing teams strategically planning immediate and long term recovery efforts for when it’s appropriate to reactivate activity, and we have others who are at the forefront daily supporting our partners and industry. Our major event and Melbourne Convention Bureau teams are working on future bids and acquisition opportunities to entice future travel once it’s safe to do so and give Australians events to look forward to whilst supporting Victorian businesses.

This is a difficult time for everyone involved across tourism, events and hospitality sectors and we are working together on how we contain the spread of coronavirus in Australia and what recovery efforts look like for businesses and visitors.
