Taking Melbourne’s Flair For Fashion To Malaysia
In January, Visit Victoria, in partnership with Tourism Australia and CHTNetwork, highlighted Melbourne’s creative arts scene in Malaysia to inspire international visitation and reinforce Melbourne’s credentials as Australia’s fashion capital. A pop-up fashion runway featuring Melbourne designers, and millinery from Serena Lindeman, was held at Tourism Australia’s Chinese New Year celebration and the annual CHT Awards gala attended by over 400 national and international ambassadors and guests.
Complementing the activations, Visit Victoria hosted an exclusive millinery workshop for media and promoted Oaks Day travel packages. Malaysia is Victoria’s third largest market in terms of visitor expenditure, with over 138,400 visitors spending $410 million in the year ending September 2017. Victoria outperforms New South Wales in visitor expenditure by more than double.
