Long-Term Partnership With Melbourne City Mission Signed
Visit Victoria is proud to announce a three-year commitment of support with one of Victoria’s leading charities, Melbourne City Mission (MCM).
This strategic alignment will help to fulfil Visit Victoria’s commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of locals and visitors alike and contribute to the sustainable development of offerings in Victoria.
MCM works with some of Victoria’s most vulnerable individuals and communities. Established in 1854 the organisation now helps over 5,000 people each week.
“Visit Victoria cares about the wellbeing of the people who live here, our long-term partnership is a reflection of our values and commitment to making Victoria a better place, now and into the future,” said Visit Victoria Chief Executive Officer, Peter Bingeman.
“I’m proud that Visit Victoria is able to support the work of Melbourne City Mission in any way we can. It’s important that as Victorians we all work together to look out for the most vulnerable people in our communities.”
Visit Victoria’s partnership with MCM will include participation at key events, volunteer and fundraising opportunities and building awareness of MCM projects and activities, such as Sleep at the G.
"I’m delighted by the opportunity to collaborate with Visit Victoria,” said Vicki Sutton, Chief Executive Officer, Melbourne City Mission.
“Melbourne City Mission is working to address some of the State’s most pressing social issues, such as homelessness, family violence, early school leaving, and social and economic exclusion experienced by people with disabilities.”
“Partnerships are the lifeblood of this work. Melbourne City Mission is looking forward to partnering with Visit Victoria to help raise community awareness and increase the reach and impact of our innovative programs and services through skilled volunteers and fundraising.”
Visit Victoria has played a vital part in delivering economic success to Victoria, ensuring the tourism and major events sector is sustained and that the industry’s role as a major employer, particularly of young people, continues.
The strength of the visitor economy is a major contributor to Victoria’s economic growth and prosperity. As such, Visit Victoria has developed an ambitious programme to increase its contribution to the visitor economy targeted to grow strongly over the next five years.
