Industry inspiration for the 2026 NFL Melbourne Game

The landmark 2026 NFL Melbourne Game between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams is taking place at the MCG on 11 September.

It will be a history-making day on 11 September 2026 with Melbourne becoming the first city in the world to host an NFL Regular Season Game, a Formula 1 Grand Prix and a tennis Grand Slam.

The NFL Melbourne Game is expected to bring thousands of visitors, driving tourism and hospitality spending and creating lasting benefits for businesses across the State.

Fans from more than 35 countries have already bought tickets.

Almost 50 per cent of spectators at the MCG are expected to be from interstate or overseas.

According to CoStar, September is on track to be a record month for hotel demand in Melbourne, with CBD hotel occupancy up 39 percentage points for the night of the game.

The United States is a priority market for Visit Victoria, with 215,000 visitors who spent $430 million in our State last year.

Game week is also attracting world-class business conferences to Victoria including SportNXT, the Intersekt Fintech Festival, Data Center World and The AI Summit Australia.
