Good Food Awards on the Menu for Melbourne

Australia’s culinary capital Melbourne will host the national Good Food Guide Awards for the first time in 2018.

The Australian food industry’s annual gala affair will see the best restaurants, bars and chefs from around the country recognised for their outstanding achievements in front of their industry peers and media.

Visit Victoria has successfully partnered with Fairfax Media to secure the event for Melbourne, which will take place on 8 October 2018 at Crown Melbourne.

Boasting the only Australian restaurant in The World's 50 Best Restaurants, Attica (no. 22), and Brae (no. 58) the only Australian restaurant in the top 100, Victoria has become a world-renowned foodie location well-known for its diversity and creativity, small bar and late night dining, and catering to either upmarket dining, cheap eats and everything in between. Attica also won Vittoria Coffee Restaurant of the Year at last year’s Good Food Awards.

Melbourne’s identity is heavily intertwined with our love of great food. It’s an honour to share that experience with the rest of the country through hosting the Good Food Awards.
Peter Bingeman, CEO Visit Victoria

Visit Victoria Chief Executive Officer Peter Bingeman said that Victoria’s reputation as a global capital for dining is supported by a passionate industry that continues to shine on the national and international stage.

“We’re so lucky to have some of the world’s best restaurants, bars, cafes, food festivals and dining experiences right here in Melbourne, but that hasn’t come about by chance, it’s thanks to Victoria’s unique passion for food and public support for this innovative industry.”

“Melbourne’s identity is heavily intertwined with our love of great food. It’s an honour to share that experience with the rest of the country through hosting the Good Food Awards.”

Since its establishment Visit Victoria has secured more than 60 major events, 330 business events and supported more than 160 events across our regions.
