About the Position

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Operations and playing a key role on the Visit Victoria LT, the Head of People & Culture will be responsible for leading the ongoing and strategic evolution of the People & Culture function, while ensuring a high level of operational P&C support continues for Visit Victoria and Melbourne Convention Bureau.
Leading a small team, this position strikes the balance of building and implementing a people strategy; reviewing, updating and redesigning our P&C practices, policies and procedures; and supporting the management of day to day and business as usual P&C requirements.
Through partnering with leaders in the business and leading the implementation of our People and Culture strategy, you will drive a human centered approach to how we work. You’ll support the growth of our organisational culture so that we can facilitate a positive employee experience underpinned by our values of Passion, Creativity, Collaboration, Growth, Connection.
To ensure the people strategy supports the goals of Visit Victoria, you’ll be focused on:
Hiring your brand-new HR team, this gives you full autonomy to select the right individuals to accelerate P&C success
Providing strategic People & Culture advice to the Director, Corporate Operations and leadership team
Managing the People and Culture team, providing oversight of operational functions and striving to create a culture of continual improvement around employee experience and wellbeing i.e. employee rewards and recognition needs your expertise
Building organisational capability through coaching and developing leaders and teams to drive an engaged, human-centric and high-performance culture
Implementing and evolve our Learning and Development and Leadership Development strategies.
Leading the development and implementation of staff engagement surveys and strategies that are aligned to our values and facilitate a positive employee experience
Reimagining P&C processes and developing and promoting ways of working that foster diversity, inclusion, flexibility and an empowered culture whilst also improving efficiency and effectiveness
Implementing our new HRIS platform, and ensuring there are systems, processes and practices in place within the P&C function that ensure a great employee experience and quality outcomes (leveraging our new technology to automate as much as possible!)
About you
To be successful as the Head and People & Culture at Visit Victoria, you will thrive on being hands on, innovative and engaging. You’ll thoroughly enjoy guiding others to take them on this journey with a “let’s give it a go" type of energy. You’ll bring to this role:
Demonstrated experience in successfully leading a people and culture function
Demonstrated experience in leading and managing organisational change processes including the ability to effectively influence and negotiate with senior executives
An ability to think critically, propose practical and cost-effective solutions, present evidence-based discussion papers, briefs and reports, and operationalise ideas plans
A natural ability to lead and connect with people and build relationships at all levels
Extensive knowledge of the Australian HR and IR environment
Functional expertise in one or more of HR business partnering, talent management, learning and development, leading cultural change and/or Employee Experience design
Ability to support and coach managers in dealing with industrial relations and HR issues, including performance and change management
Ability to balance strategic work with day-to-day operational priorities
A passion for tourism and events
Experience with Employment Hero, Culture Amp and system implementation would be a bonus!
