About the role

This role is responsible for managing and providing strategic direction to the Market Development & Distribution team to grow visitation, nights and yield from key markets to Victoria.  The role is responsible for building active consideration of the destination in key markets by extending the reach of Victoria brand and campaigns through strategic commercial partners.

Key responsibilities:

  • 2IC to line manager Head of Global Markets and Commercial
  • Contribute to the development of Visit Victoria marketing strategy for growing international tourism
  • Lead the development of strategic global commercial partnerships with key distribution partners and airlines.
  • Support the Head of Global Markets and Commercial in driving new aviation capacity in partnership with the State government and key partners
  • Support the implementation of Victoria’s destination brand strategy across key international markets
  • Contribute to the development of Visit Victoria’s global PR strategy including major broadcast integrations
  • Represent Visit Victoria at key conferences, missions, functions and meeting with industry and other key stakeholders
  • Lead, motivate and manage a skilled team to deliver strategies and implement programs for Victoria within agreed budgets, timelines and processes.

Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years TTL marketing and partnerships experience
  • Experience working within the tourism/destination marketing industry, ideally on a global scale
  • Tertiary educated
  • Highly strategic and innovative mindset
  • Excellent presentation, communication and public speaking skills
  • Proven experience securing $1M+ global partnerships
  • Experience working closely with tourism and government bodies
  • Strong team leadership skills
  • Exceptional influencing and negotiating skills
  • Ability to make business recommendations based on your interpretation of data  
  • Autonomous, self sufficient
  • Not afraid to take risks, try new things, push the boundaries and challenge ways of working
