How to Apply for the
Regional Events and Innovation Fund

The Regional Events Innovation Fund (REIF) provides funding for activities that support innovation in securing, hosting and marketing new events and implementing innovative projects to increase regional event visitation.

To be considered for support, those that can apply are Regional Tourism Boards (RTBs) or recognised Victorian tourism organisations. All proposals from Victorian tourism organisations must include an endorsement from the RTB and/or local council.

A formal application is required and the level of detail required will vary on the level of funding requested. Strategic consideration is given to those that clearly target a current or emerging need in regional Victoria.

Funding Criteria

Applicants will need to demonstrate how their proposal meets the following criteria:

  • Innovation - why the project or event is important to the region
  • Strategic fit to the RTB Annual Event Plan, Strategic Plan or Destination Management Plan
  • Increasing brand equity for Victoria
  • Economic benefits and value of the event or project to the region
  • Potential to scale or replicate across regions
  • Aligns to government priorities (view Visitor Economy Strategy) and create positive community engagement
  • Calendar fit - How your proposal leverages seasonality challenges and opportunities for your respective region to ensure the right 'calendar fit'
  • Financial viability.
Innovation is the process of translating an idea or invention into a good or service that creates value.
