Social Media Executive

About the Role

This is a challenging and dynamic role, where you will provide your skills to manage and deliver clearly defined social media activities and coordinate social media communications for Visit Victoria that supports core marketing campaigns and initiatives whilst increasing equity and awareness in the brand. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide analysis and advice on the applicability and efficacy of existing and new digital and social media channels to promote and market Melbourne and Victoria, in support of key business objectives.
  • Manage, coordinate and execute Visit Victoria's social media presence to build engagement and ensure consistent integration with domestic marketing campaigns and strategies
  • Work collaboratively with other Visit Victoria teams to ensure consistent, well timed and coordinated messages across social platforms.  Manage a calendar of activity across business units, teams and paid media activities.
  • Working closely with the Content team, develop, schedule and share content including copy, image and video for publication across social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
  • Work with key social channels and digital distribution partners to ensure that Visit Victoria and its partners are well represented in these important channels to connect consumers to tourism products and experience in Victoria. 
  • Develop and report on key performance indicators and reporting guidelines to measure the success of social media and digital initiatives and provide ongoing evaluation of activity.
  • Provide advice, education and management reporting on strategic direction to senior management, staff and industry stakeholders.

Know How

  • Proven extensive experience in the management and development of social media activities, social media guidelines and integration of social media into marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Comprehensive experience in writing for social media and developing social conversation and building a targeted and engaged social media presence across multiple social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube.
  • Proven experience in the use of analytical tools for analysis and management reporting including Google Analytics and social monitoring tools.
  • High level conceptual and analytical skills, ability to apply complex concepts to program development and translating concepts to operational activities and strong issue analysis and resolution skills.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills and experience negotiating with and managing internal and external stakeholders, agencies and service providers.
  • High level interpersonal skills, ability to develop effective working relationships with managers, staff, contractors and suppliers.
  • A tertiary qualification in media, communications, online publishing or advertising would be well regarded

Other Information

  • This position has a requirement to work out of hours, and it will involve evening or weekend work including occasional overnight travel.
  • This position is based in our Melbourne Office
  • This is a 12 month fixed term contract
