This is a challenging and rewarding role in a tourism and major event environment requiring marketing, stakeholder management and project management skills. The role will support regional event organisers to develop and implement marketing strategies to drive event associated visitation. Critical to the success of this position will be an understanding of how best to market regional events, utilising Visit Victoria’s and Regional Tourism Boards marketing channels, whilst developing cost effective marketing strategies in conjunction with regional event organisers.
Provide expert marketing advice to regional event organisers to support the development and implementation of event marketing strategies and plans.
Support regional event organisers to identify opportunities to leverage relevant marketing channels and opportunities.
Provide specialist advice to internal and external stakeholders on specific regional event marketing opportunities.
Work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, including state and local government, industry associations, commercial partners and brand partners to maximise the reach of regional events campaign activity.
Provide support to regional events throughout event development and implementation.
Assist regional event organisers to undertake post event analysis and reporting.
Demonstrated understanding of and experience in event marketing strategy implementation.
Demonstrated ability and understanding of planning and / or management of events and related projects, with an emphasis on regional events.
Well-developed interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with external stakeholders, contractors, suppliers and government agencies.
High level written and verbal communication skills, ability to present, persuade, advocate, negotiate and motivate external stakeholders to prepare targeted event marketing strategies and plans.
Well-developed planning, project management and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects within tight timelines.
Sound knowledge of and experience in event management and delivery, tourism and / or marketing.
A tertiary qualification in any of the following: event marketing, event management, advertising, business or a related area.
