Manager, Event Funds / Finance Analyst

About the role

Visit Victoria receives funding from the State to secure events for Melbourne and regional Victoria.

The Finance Analyst is responsible for providing high level financial management support to leaders and managers, whom have responsibility for event funds that support the acquisition of Major Events, Business Events and Regional Events.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide high level financial management advice and support for employees managing event funding programs and drive efficiencies across each of the funds
  • Lead, manage and coordinate monthly financial reporting across each of the event funds and develop standardised accounting and reporting processes
  • Build collaborative relationships with tourism bodies and state government agencies and ensure regular reconciliation of event fund cash flow projections
  • Lead and manage the quarterly event funding program drawdown and related reporting and provide a monthly reconciliation of each event fund bank account
  • Be the primary contact for all financial and audit enquiries for event funds across Visit Victoria and Melbourne Convention Bureau and assist in coordinating advice and documentation for the audits
  • Lead, manage and coordinate monthly financial analysis and forecasting of expenditure and revenue against budget and financial projections for each event fund
  • Take a lead role in the budget planning process and preparation of annual expenditure budgets for each event fund

Our ideal candidate will relate to the following:

  • Demonstrated track record in a Management Accounting role relevant to high profile event funding agreements and a strong understanding of Public and Government sector funding requirements and protocols
  • Proven experience in budgeting, financial reporting, accounting operations and systems and ability to critically analyse financial data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and able to liaise and negotiate with a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience in working within a professional governance framework
  • Exemplary attention to detail
  • Experience in the application of accounting policies and a sound knowledge of accounting standards
  • High customer service focus with a proactive approach to problem solving
