The Destination Marketing business unit is focussed on delivering best-in-class, visitor-centric marketing activities across all key consumer segments, to drive business results and deliver campaigns that inspire, convert and service travellers at all stages of the visitor journey.

About the role

This role is responsible for overseeing a small team of specialist who coordinate and manage the provision of online product on Visit Victoria’s websites including product, accommodation, tour operators and events.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide clear direction to team members, ongoing coaching and feedback regarding performance. Focusing on identifying ongoing learning and development opportunities for team members to enable effective succession planning within the organisation.
  • Manage the business and event product listings on Visit Victoria’s consumer website and the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW).
  • Lead a team performing quality assurance of ATDW listings and providing phone and email support to tourism operators and the industry.
  • Develop online product strategy and direction for the sales and management of ATDW listings. Participate in development of online research and strategy.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Action a range of reporting procedures as required, including the reconciliation and distribution of ATDW listing revenue to Regional Tourism Boards (RTBs).
  • Represent Visit Victoria in a national user group responsible for driving maintenance and development of the ATDW-online platform.
  • Develop and deliver ATDW training for the Victorian tourism industry, as required

Your experience


  • A tertiary qualification in any of the following: tourism, marketing, communications, advertising, journalism, media or public relations.


  • Proven experience leading and developing outcome-driven teams in line with the organisations’ business objectives.
  • Knowledge of travel and tourism industry in Australia.
  • Sound conceptual and analytical skills, ability to resolve operational issues to achieve agreed outcomes, identify and advise on issues and improvements.
  • Good communication skills in public speaking, training and presenting.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to develop effective working relationships with managers, staff, contractors and suppliers.
  • Well-developed project management particularly using outsourced service providers. - Experience in database management, content management systems and coordination and delivery of web projects.
