Graduate Event Coordinator

Position purpose

This role presents a great opportunity for a graduate to develop and apply their skills in research, projects, marketing and administrative support to the Major Events Acquisitions team who are responsible for identifying and bringing major international cultural and sporting events to Melbourne and Victoria. The successful candidate will join the Creative Industries team for a 1 year fixed-term period.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Major Events Acquisitions team, and greater Major Events team when required
  • Contribute to the development and preparation of new and upcoming event opportunities
  • Undertake relevant research into prospective international events
  • Attend meetings and events as required
  • Contribute to the development of briefing folders and presentation aids (e.g. for Government meetings, presentations to event owner, etc.)
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Contribute to the development of bid documentation and Government submissions.


  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, ability to interact and work with staff at all levels and external stakeholders
  • Strong administrative ability
  • High attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office programs, including PowerPoint
  • Understanding of and exposure to major sporting and or cultural events

Desired qualifications

  • Completed or undergoing relevant tertiary qualification in any of the following: events, project management, business, tourism or marketing will be advantageous.
