Executive, Communications & Content

About the Role

The Executive, Communications & Content is a diverse role, assisting with corporate and consumer communications, content creation, media relations, social media and business administration.  The role sits within  a small and dynamic team, reporting into the Communications Manager.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with the implementation and delivery of MCB’s overall internal and external communications strategy.
  • Work with the Communications Manager to develop engaging, accurate and audience relevant content for media, stakeholders, members and clients, published through various owned, earnt and paid communication channels.
  • Develop, edit and proofread consumer and corporate communications materials including partner and client EDMs, advertorials, partner channels, social content, speeches, webinars, event marketing materials and the MCB blog.
  • Foster meaningful media and industry relationships by assisting in the delivery and execution of MCB’s engagement strategy. This includes facilitating media opportunities, developing proactive media story angles, story idea generation, pitching, media releases, preparation of interview briefs and backgrounders, managing and growing the MCB media and stakeholder database, and media monitoring and reporting.
  • Coordinate PR and communications activities for MCB’s presence at Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME).
  • Collaborate across departments on various marketing and communication projects.
  • Ensure the MCB brand is consistently communicated across all communication channels.
  • Partner closely with Digital Marketing Executive to support content development and to implement the social media content plan.
  • Prepare Ministerial media opportunity backgrounders.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Demonstrated experience in communications, journalism, media or public relations. 
  • Passion for and understanding of Melbourne’s strengths in the visitor economy sector.
  • Consumer brand, B2B, events or destination marketing experience would be advantageous however not mandatory.
  • A flair for writing and excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and adapt content for different audiences and formats (including speeches, edms and social).
  • Understanding of digital communication trends and ability to leverage to provide ongoing value to the business.
  • Proven ability to monitor, review and report on campaign and activity progress.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and manage and maintain networks. Proven ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong initiative and problem-solving abilities.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.

  • The role is based in Docklands, Melbourne Office, however Visit Victoria employees are currently working from home.
