The Event Marketing and Relationship Specialist plays a key role in the Major Events team to grow the visitor economic impact and destination brand awareness from Victoria's major events.
This is a fixed-term parental leave cover position. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running with experience in event leveraging, contract, relationship and project management.
Key Accountabilities
Contract management of once off and annual major events and major event partnerships, overseeing all contractual deliverables and the fulfilment of sponsor benefits.
Develop and implement amplification strategies for major events to enhance Melbourne as a host destination and global events city.
Represent Visit Victoria on appropriate major event management and marketing committees and provide advice.
Develop and manage strong working relationships with external stakeholders, including major event owners and promoters, sponsors and event partners and internal stakeholders, including Visit Victoria staff and relevant governmental departments.
Prepare amplification strategies, submissions, briefings and reports for relevant events for Visit Victoria leadership, governmental departments, the Minister for Tourism and Major Events and relevant Cabinet Committees.
Undertake research and analysis, prepare briefing papers and reports on complex issues and provide professional advice to senior management on major event contracts and amplification initiatives.
Oversee the delivery and payment of contract milestones and management of event funding including maintaining complex event budgets.
Know-how/experience
Demonstrated ability and understanding of planning and / or management of major events and related projects, including the ability to manage contracts.
High level written and verbal communication skills, ability to present, persuade, advocate, negotiate and motivate and prepare correspondence, reports and briefs on complex and sensitive issues.
Well-developed interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a team and develop effective working relationships with managers, staff, contractors, suppliers and diverse stakeholders.
Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills, ability to resolve operational issues to achieve agreed outcomes identify and advise on issues and improvements and evaluate marketing strategies and programs.
Sound knowledge of and experience in Tourism, Events and / or Marketing.
Demonstrated understanding of and experience working on major events and managing partners/stakeholders.
Well-developed planning and project management skills that can ensure that project objectives are met.
Desired qualifications
A tertiary qualification in event management, marketing, advertising, business or a related area.
A minimum of 3 years industry experience.
Experience working on major events and stakeholder relationships with partners/sponsors.
Position specific requirements
This position has a requirement to work out of hours that will involve evening or weekend work including occasional overnight travel.
