About the role:

An exciting opportunity presents itself at the MCB within the busy Sales team for a Director – Corporate Meetings and Incentives (CMI).

Key accountabilities include:

  • Develop, implement and manage the CMI sales strategy to drive new short-term business to the state and opportunities for MCB partners
  • Determine future investment and focus levels for CMI (staff and budget) / ROI analysis
  • Manage and development of hero events from the Asia Pacific region
  • Drive conversion for MCB partners from CMI business
  • Build and refine CMI marketing tools to drive PR/media/communications initiatives to increase the profile of Melbourne’s offering as an incentive destination in the Asia Pacific
  • Assist with Partner acquisition strategies/product development/upskilling
  • Manage MCB’s relationship with Tourism Australia, Business Events Australia (Sydney office and in-market), Australian Inbound Tour Operators (ITO’s) where appropriate
  • Deliver targeted events and familiarisations to drive CMI business
  • Manage a VIP program during the AIME tradeshow to maximise promotion of CMI and host key buyers
  • Manage the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MCB and the Australia China Business Council (ACBC) and identify collaboration opportunities
  • Develop and implement MCB’s International Association Asia Pacific strategy
  • Conduct fortnightly WIP with MCB’s North and South East Asia offices
  • Manage MCB’s Service Agreement through which North and South East Asia staff are employed

About you:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Sales Account Manager role preferably within the corporate and association market
  • Experience of working within the Asia Pacific in a sales role
  • Extensive knowledge and experience within the convention and business events industry preferred
  • Accomplished skills in sales and negotiation with senior members of industry, corporations, associations and government
  • Client relationship management
  • Strategic business planning experience
  • Project management – ability to plan, prioritise and manage projects and achieve successful outcomes
  • Ability to express superior communication both written and verbal
  • Presentation skills
  • Proven experience in sourcing and developing sales leads
  • Attention to detail
  • Competent database skills
  • Team management
  • Ability to develop and analyse sales performance reports and make recommendations for change
  • Ability to speak Mandarin advantageous
