Business Development Executive

About the Role

The role of the Business Development Executive underpins the efforts of our Business Development team to generate leads, achieve growth and ensure positive collaboration with Melbourne’s visitor industry. This role is responsible for ensuring deadlines are kept and for tracking performance of KPIs and targets. With a growing focus on the renewal and initial sales of some of our key activity, this role services existing clients needs as well as proactive prospects for new business and lead generation.

The Business Development Executive is required to work closely with Visit Victoria & MCB customers and partners as well as develop and maintain strong working relationships with team members and other key industry stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Focus on generating leads, including generating sales pipelines and the implementation of B2B campaigns related to the Official Visitor Products.
  • Focus on Sales for The Official Visitor Map (OVM) and Official Visitors Guide (OVG).
  • Prospecting for advertising and listings for the OVG and OVM and overseeing the renewal process of existing listings and advertising.
  • Provide customer service support for all enquires relating to the OVG and OVM.
  • Providing overall administration support to the Official Visitor Product Team. 
  • Coordinate team deadlines, provides up to date and accurate sales reporting and schedules, ensuring the team is on track to meet and exceed targets.
  • Coordinating information within the company CRM, including updating product data, layouts for the OVG and OVM and generate reports.
  • Problem solving and assisting in additional tasks and projects
  • Project manage projects in relation to the OVG or OVM.

Your Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience preferably in a Business Development and Sales role.
  • A passion and skills for proactive and solution-based approaches to Business Development and Sales.
  • Experience in the selling of advertising in a print/digital environment or similar is well regarded.
  • Demonstrated ability of achieving individual revenue targets.
  • A successful background in researching skills to identify and unlocking business opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability making outbound calls, generating leads and converting business opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and manage work and deadlines autonomously.
  • Strong time management and ability to prioritise tasks to meet critical deadlines and high attention to detail.
  • Experience working with CRM platforms and Microsoft Office, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, along with the ability to network and deliver presentations.
  • A sound knowledge of, and/or experience within the visitor industry, particularly in Melbourne and Victoria would be well regarded.
  • A tertiary qualification would be well regarded.

  • Visit Victoria and Melbourne Convention Bureau are working from home during the Covid-19 outbreak.
