Theatre Marketing, Project Manager within Major Events

About The Role

Operating within the Major Events Division, the role of the Theatre Marketing Project Manager is responsible for managing and implementing the interstate and international marketing activity of a major theatre production to attract visitors to Melbourne and profile Victoria as a major events destination. 

Managing major events funding contracts and marketing campaign strategies are a key focus of this role which requires extensive knowledge and experience in event marketing, contract management and experience working with the global tourism distribution system and key strategic partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage implementation of complex interstate and international marketing campaigns to drive visitation and profile Melbourne as a major event and tourism destination
  • Key stakeholder management, providing specialist advice on tourism marketing, maximising destination exposure and event delivery and development to event organisers
  • Preparation of submissions, briefs and reports on technical contentious or highly complex issues for the consideration of the executive, board, government departments, Ministers and cabinet committees.

About You

Know How/Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of marketing and leverage strategies and consumer marketing campaigns for major events to drive visitation and branding outcomes
  • Experience in effectively managing major event funding agreements and an understanding of the requirements and protocols associated with public sector funding
  • Demonstrated budget management experience
  • Highly developed communication skills, ability to influence
  • High level of interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships with a wide range of event-related and government stakeholders
  • Proven ability in maximising the level of exposure for a state, city or product as a tourism destination via event related marketing activities
  • Well-developed understanding of the theatre marketing and tourism distribution network
