Project Manager Regional Event and Innovation Fund within Major Events

About the Role

The Major Events Division has primary responsibility for the management of Visit Victoria’ major events portfolio and the Regional Events Fund. This key role will provide key support for Regional Tourism Boards (RTB’s) to help develop, secure, market and deliver more regional events, along with developing more innovative campaigns, services and products. The overall aim is to further improve the coordination of regional marketing campaigns and resources.

The Regional Tourism & Strategy Division has primary responsibility for the management of Visit Victoria’s engagement with Regional Tourism Boards (RTBs), Regional Development Victoria and Local Government with the goal of increasing the contribution of the Visitor Economy to regional Victoria.  

Key Accountability 

  • Develop and implement Visit Victoria’s strategies in relation to the delivery of the Regional Events and Innovation Fund (REIF).
  • Undertake regional roadshows on the new REIF to educate the regions on the new opportunities this fund brings.
  • Engage with Local Councils and Industry to develop business cases to support applications to the REIF.
  • Effective engagement with Regional Tourism Boards (RTBs) and approved tourism organisation on the REIF, priorities and the development of submissions.
  • Provision of leadership and strategic advice to RTBs, councils and recognised tourism organisations.
  • Proactively assist, provide advice and support to the regions to engage with the new REIF and apply for new innovative events, products and marketing opportunities.

About You 

  • Demonstrated experience in strategy implementation with strong industry insight and understanding of regional tourism and/or events.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and networks, manage complex stakeholder relationships, including excellent negotiation and influencing skills. 
  • Proven experience in the management of grant programs. 
  • Demonstrated experience in developing business cases with highly-developed organisational, planning, research and analytical skills. 
  • Highly-developed interpersonal skills with high-level, written communication, public speaking and influencing skills.
